3 Day Weekends

16 Jan

I love 3 day weekends.  Saturday starts with a more relaxed feel.  There are 2 more days to complete those weekend tasks like shopping and laundry.  There is time to plan a big breakfast, go out for lunch and grade homework assignments without the feeling that something must be bumped from the agenda of projects and relaxing. The Sunday afternoon nap is even sweeter because it can be followed by a Monday afternoon nap.

Will all of that go away once the weekday duty of the job ends? Vacations let you forget what day it is until the very end. Will retirement establish a new weekday routine or more of a vacation feel? Because we will be living in the South, it would be good for me to slow down a bit but I hope not too much. I would hate to lose the special feeling of those 3 day weekend. That Monday afternoon nap should still be a special treat rather than a daily event. Of course naps are always a special event.

Agree with your comments re 3 day weekends…and 4 day are even sweeter. My observation of my retired friends: they all have small monthly calendars afixed to their dash boards. This might give you a clue as to the weekly structure after retirement.
